In search of "happy weight"

by | 27/05/15

One of the most common concerns of my patients is reaching their ideal weight. However, I don't particularly like this term, since ideal always refers to something difficult and out of reality. How many things are really ideal in our life?

That's why I prefer to use the term “happy weight”. A happy weight, for me, is one that doesn't require any mental or emotional pressure or guilt about what I'm eating, how I'm doing physical activity, being free from visual comparisons and appreciating my body for what it does for. me every day when it allows me to do my job, exercise and have fun; Weight is not just a number, it is a feeling and a state of being.

Numbers can be relative and are not the true definition of your health and well-being. Your "happy" weight is one where you feel incredibly strong and willing, ready to work out, hike trails, take a bike ride, or allow you to stand up all day working at a job you love. , helping others in the community, carrying the little ones, etc.;

What does a happy weight mean to you? What activities are you able to do because of this? It's time to start appreciating our bodies for what they allow us to do with our lives rather than how they look visually and physically – our bodies allow us to feel joy, love, happiness, excitement, strength and so much more!

There are days when I end a session with a patient and continue to think and reflect on our conversation. Sometimes we don't even talk about food and nutrition in the first or even the second session. For me, being the best coach and doctor possible involves a solid nutrition plan, but the most important thing is getting to the root cause of problems like stress eating, emotional and mental triggers, binge eating/overeating, which self-sabotage efforts to lose weight and other goals.

Many of these and these patients are very open and share their deepest thoughts about themselves. What I hear very often are ideas of belittling and feelings of not being good enough. They listen to that negative inner voice about their weight and take that as a definition of who you are, saying, "you're fat, you'll never get thin, I don't have time, it's very difficult, it never worked and it never will." And that way, you will never feel joy and will only generate these types of situations in life.

We, as women (and men), must collectively embrace the unity that is in all of us and get to what really matters – live to the fullest potential that we have a life of love and kindness towards ourselves and others. Remember, we are all on the same path, to live the best we can, healthy and happy! So let go of negativity and make room to express your true inner strength!

    “(…)It's time to start appreciating our body for what it allows us to do with our lives rather than how it looks visually and physically. (…)” The purest truth Marcella! How ungrateful we are every day even though we have a perfect body that allows us to do absolutely everything we love the most! Topic for a lot of reflection and introspective…lol

      Definitely Natassia. Everything to do with what we talked about in the first session! We will reflect on this a lot 😉
